Sunrise of Silver Spring

My mother had been at Sunrise of Silver Spring for nine months, and I couldn’t be happier with every aspect of their program. The staff is absolutely fantastic— caring, responsive, attentive. The facility is lovely and meticulously maintained, and the food is very good. The medical care is fantastic, with doctor and nurses who are diligent about staying on top of any and all problems, and keeping me well informed of any issues that arise.

We have had three parents over the past few years reside at Sunrise Senior Living in Silver Spring. Each one was treated with dignity and respect. The medical care and communication was excellent. The staff worked like a family and greeted you as you were their family too. The director Susan sets the caring tone for Sunrise and was so accessible and was attentive to any needs such as room changes or beginning hospice care. They treated our parents like they were theirs. Cannot say enough good from the beginning of the Covid pandemic they were on top of things and they have never let that lapse. I felt like Sunrise SS was the best place we could hope for to care for our loved ones.

Sunrise of Silver Spring has been a great experience for my cousin. They have encouraged her to participate in many activities. She needed a high level of support when she entered the facility. Their knowledge, care, and encouragement have helped her improve faster that anyone expected. The facility is clean and welcoming. It has many comfy places for the residents and families to sit and visit, watch tv, or eat. It was an easy process to have my cousin evaluated and admitted to the facility. The staff was knowledgeable and helpful. They helped me learn about what my cousin would need in the was of care, medical support, and daily activities to improve.

So much of this environment was just right. From the live mascots on every floor to the smiling staff (and residents) everything felt homey and comfortable. We loved the staging stations themed on things that would bring fond memories to the guests. Our engagements with staff were informative and painted clear pictures of how life is lived here. One of the more important pieces was that memory care was integrated with activities in the assisted living community. So very critical for our family member who sits on the cusp between the two.

It's very difficult to transition a loved one to a new lifestyle but the team here made the transition very comfortable. Not only did they provide a warm and loving environment, they advocated for my dad's return to Sunrise from a stay in rehab by providing all the care he needed so he could join his wife for the last weeks of his life. I was not aware this was an option and will always be grateful for their proactive care.
