I Virginia Richards is one of the 13 family members that got diagnosed with scabies and had to be treated. Unfortunately, the first time I got misdiagnosed with having “Atopic Dermatitis.” After getting progressively worse, 48 days later I get diagnosed with Scabies. Our poor mother did not get a proper diagnosis or treated for scabies. She suffered immensely and silently for six months! WHY was scabies not ruled out??? I was my mother’s main caregiver prior to her going into The Hampton and my biggest regret was not checking her whole body. Please be proactive with your loved one and do not assume like we did that she was getting well taken care of. Always ask questions and seek the root cause of symptoms. ALL of the signs of her having scabies were there. We just didn’t know anything about scabies, but The Hampton did! Again, WHY was scabies not ruled out?
We moved our Mom (Barbara) into the Hampton Salmon Creek in May of 2021. Three weeks into her residency we notice her scratching at her arms. One month in, staff find her on the bathroom floor with a broken hip. All summer as she’s recovering from hip replacement, the itching gets worse. We tell staff something at the Hampton is causing it but they only seem interested in treating the symptoms and not finding the cause. 4 months in, she’s found on the floor again, this time with a broken wrist. 5 months in, the physical therapist calls to say she looked under Mom’s shirt because she was constantly scratching and discovers a rash all over her torso. Hampton staff recommend a steroid lotion and a stronger antihistamine that causes her to sleep all day. 6 months in, Mom ends up at the hospital for the last time, she’s unresponsive with sodium levels off the chart due to dehydration. The rash has spread to her entire body and she’s scratching so frantically the nurses need to medicate her. Mom goes into hospice and dies 4 days later. Within 3 weeks, all family members that had physical contact with Mom begin itching and are diagnosed with SCABIES. 13 family members need to get treated for them. We contact the Hampton and they admit to 2 SCABIES outbreaks, 1 just before and 1 just after Mom’s residency there. They tell us we weren’t notified because it was after she left their care. Do not let the Hampton “care” for your loved one unless you want pain, misery and sadness.
The Hampton at Salmon Creek is an incredibly caring loving facility. Both of my parents were residents and they both received the best care. The employees are fabulous and you can tell they really care about the residents. I would not hesitate to choose The Hampton at Salmon Creek!
Mom (Sandi) has been at The Hampton going on four years. The caregivers and staff do an amazing job taking personal interest in mom and her well being We are truly blessed to live close by and have regular visits with mom and everyone there including many residents. Alzheimer’s is such a devastating long term disease, being able to see my mom on her best days (which I cherish) as well as her “not so good days (which ground me) makes it all tolerable. Being able to ask the hard questions and get answers and help has been huge. Thanks you Hampton partners for the love and care you show my momma💝❤️
My mother has lived at the Hampton for over 2.5 years. She loves it and has made friends there. The staff are very communicative to my father and myself and are always pleasant and friendly. When an issue does come up, they are proactive with creating a caring solution that works for everyone. The facility has always been clean and homey. We are very pleased with her care and safety.
