Athens Kidney Center
Athens Kidney Center
Athens Kidney Center is a Medicare-certified dialysis facility located in Athens, Georgia. A Medicare-certified ESRD facility provides dialysis treatment for patients with end-stage renal disease (kidney failure). Facilities may offer hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, or both treatment modalities.
This facility has 19 dialysis stations. Dialysis is a life-sustaining treatment that removes waste and excess fluid from the blood when the kidneys can no longer perform this function. Hemodialysis typically occurs three times per week at a dialysis center, while peritoneal dialysis can be performed at home.
Medicare provides coverage for dialysis treatment for patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD), including people under age 65. Coverage includes dialysis treatment, equipment, supplies, and certain medications. Most patients have a monthly premium and may have cost-sharing requirements.
ESRD facilities must meet federal Conditions for Coverage established by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, including requirements for patient assessment, care planning, infection control, and quality improvement. Visit Medicare Care Compare to view facility quality ratings and compare dialysis centers.

I went to view this clinic, wanting to switch a few months back. I decided not to switch after speaking with my doctor & his assistant. I called to this clinic today, was transferred to Valerie. She remembered me from meeting with her last time. That lady Valerie must’ve felt hit, because I chose to stay where I was. Our last meeting she said, “take some time to make a decision.” Today, she said, “Since you didn’t choose us the 1st time, I have to meet with my doctor to see if it’s something he would want to move forward with.” And I explained to her the situation and let’s just say, she wasn’t moved and my decision bruised her ego. I was talking to her, telling her about why I chose to stay (my doctor & this clinics reviews) She cut me off and told me they don’t practice like that any more. They’ve fired this person. Well you could’ve fooled me Valerie. Her attitude went from 0 to 100 real quick and when she hung up, she made sure I heard her slam the phone down 😆. (And YES I have a recording of the phone call for my records as I would hope they for theirs) That phone call let me know she didn’t want me there and hopefully this review lets them know, I’m not interested in coming. The reviews turned out to be true through that one call. There were a few people that asked me to report back because they were interested in switching too. I’ll do just that. I promise to play this recording to anyone who’ll listen, and I mean anyone. Thank you for your time. I really appreciated it.
I want to know what kind of people you have working for you. There is a women name Deloros that work there at you facility that is harassing my mother (who is a senior citizen). They are fully aware of the things she says to her but she still works there. Next step is calling the ombudsman. Who the hell picks at an senior about her husband being dead. And yelling at her. Is she that miserable that she has to pick on senior citizens. I'm reporting this facility.
Thank you for your communication. We take all complaints from the public we serve very seriously. Any issue that is important to you is equally important to us. Though we serve many patients on a daily basis and hire a lot of trained professional staff at our treatment centers, we strive to investigate all complaints with a goal to correct, improve, prevent, and where possible, reverse any failings from any of our clinical staff. In this particular case, we are unable to identify the offending staff, the patient involved, or when this alleged incident might have occurred. We therefore urge you to immediately contact our Administrator (@ 706-KIDNEYS) to help us get to the root of this complaint. We assure you that your concerns will be treated with the utmost confidence and dispatch. In the meantime, please accept our sincere apologies and regrets that we may have failed to provide the exceptional & compassionate care for which we have been rightly known for, in this matter involving your beloved mother.
Been complaining about lights since started in February, been told working on , been told wait a minute by several of staff and senior members of staff , even dr. of place , safety for patients and transport companies should be at highest regard . There are dark spots all around building . I hope this does not go unnoticed . This staff and center needs to be retrained on bedside manner.
