Monroe County Opportunity Program
Monroe County Opportunity Program
Monroe County Opportunity Program is a homecare agency serving Monroe, Michigan and surrounding areas. Homecare agencies provide non-medical personal care services that allow individuals to remain safely in their homes while receiving assistance with daily activities.
Services provided by homecare agencies typically include personal care assistance (bathing, dressing, grooming), companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping, medication reminders, transportation to appointments, and respite care for family caregivers.
Michigan does not require state licensure for non-medical homecare agencies, though agencies are generally expected to comply with local business licensing requirements and employment laws. Families should verify that caregivers have appropriate background checks and that the agency carries liability insurance.
Payment Options: In Michigan, Medicaid may help pay for homecare services through programs like MI Choice Waiver. These Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) waivers help eligible individuals receive care at home instead of in an institutional setting. Contact Michigan Department of Health and Human Services or visit https://www.michigan.gov/mdhhs/assistance-programs/medicaid/long-term-care to learn about eligibility and how to apply.
When selecting a homecare agency, consider factors such as caregiver screening procedures, training requirements, supervision practices, and the agency's responsiveness to client needs and concerns. Visit Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs for more information about homecare services in Michigan.
Licensing requirements and regulations may change. We recommend verifying current requirements directly with your state's licensing agency.

This place offers a lot of resources for many people in need. If they can't help they probably can point you in the direction your looking for! Bonus sometimes they have free random foods (meat varys) in the lobby free for the publics needs. Trying to reach someone via phone can be hard at times and voicemail is there go too it seems but other than that they are a great service to the community
Just because people are struggling doesn't give your receptionist the right to treat them like they are dog poop on the bottom of her shoe.

I stop here everyday after work. Usually get the last picks on whatever it is they have for food but it's free food! Over ripe avocado for dip and over ripe bananas for bread or pies, small cucumbers for pickles. Most of the free foods have to be used pretty quick so you have to be creative with it. Very nice staff.
They are so helpful and very nice. As a senior, I appreciate this service immensely!!!
