"It runs in the family"
Some of the earliest memories that I have are spending time in long-term care communities here in North Carolina. In 1954, my great-grandparents, and grandparents, built two nursing homes, one in the Piedmont Triad and one in the mountains of North Carolina. Since those doors first opened, my family on both sides have continuously remained in the long-term care industry, from skilled nursing and assisted living communities to skilled home health. I am proud to carry on our family tradition, now going on our 70th consecutive year of providing thoughtful, compassionate and engaging care to enable adults to continue living their best lives possible as they age in place.
“There’s no place like home.” L. Frank Baum
I am particularly thrilled to be in a position to answer the calling to home care in the Triad because it’s where I grew up. After graduating from West Forsyth High School and going off to college at Appalachian State University, I left home to pursue careers that took me from Washington D.C. to Charlotte and Raleigh. After spending over a decade in the corporate sector, I knew I was being called back home and to the family business. After completing my MBA at Wake Forest University, an opportunity arose to come back home permanently and do just that and I have not looked back since giving a resounding “yes” to that opportunity.
"Dignity and joy are the keys to living your best life possible."
If there’s one thing I’ve learned having grown up in this industry and being mentored by lifelong caregivers, it’s that nothing leads to happier and healthier lives than being able to live a life that maintains dignity and instills joy on a daily basis. That’s what makes this so much more than just a job. It’s a calling, and our family of caregivers get to answer that call every day in our community.
