Heartland Hospice Services
Heartland Hospice Services
Heartland Hospice Services is a Medicare-certified hospice provider serving Baltimore, Maryland and surrounding areas. A Medicare-certified hospice provides comfort care and support services to patients with terminal illnesses and their families. Hospice care focuses on quality of life rather than curative treatment.
Hospice care is available to patients whose physician certifies they have a terminal illness with a life expectancy of six months or less if the illness runs its normal course. Patients may receive hospice care at home, in a hospice facility, nursing home, or hospital.
Medicare-certified hospices must provide all four levels of hospice care: routine home care, continuous home care for periods of crisis, general inpatient care for symptom management, and inpatient respite care to give caregivers a break. Care is provided by an interdisciplinary team including physicians, nurses, social workers, chaplains, and trained volunteers.
Medicare covers hospice services with no cost to patients for most services, including medications for symptom control, medical equipment, and 24-hour access to care. For more information about hospice benefits, visit Medicare.gov. Compare hospice providers at Medicare Care Compare.
Quality data and provider information are updated periodically by CMS. We recommend verifying current information at Medicare Care Compare.

The Heartland Hospice working with my family was very professional, courteous and caring. Assistance was provided each step of the way. Our concerns and needs were met in a timely manner. The interaction with the assigned team members was great. I would recommend their services to anyone should the need arise. Blessings
I would not recommend Heartland. The most disorganized people who I could not rely or depend on during my grandfather’s most vulnerable time in his life. I would have to pester them to get us the medications or documents we needed. Calls and appointments were always late, sometimes making us wait for hours. Sometimes nurses would completely forget to call us back while my poor grandfather suffered. Everyday I needed their help there would be a mistake. Laurain and Natasha were the only two I could count on but I realized that too late. My grandfather deserved better. I will carry his painful last moments in my heart for the rest of my life now. Just because these people are dying does not mean they do not need careful and attentive care.
The experience we had with Heartland Hospice was heartbreaking and unfortunate. The case manager and nurse seemed to be over-worked and were not attentive. The little care that was provided was rushed. There are many wonderful places that provide Hospice care-I wish we would have done more research. My father deserved better. Please look elsewhere for your loved one.
As a professional in the Anne Arundel County area I feel very comfortable referring my elderly residents to Heartland Hospice. The care and concern shown toward the residents and the care given is very kind and heartfelt. I have always found the staff to be understanding and supportive of not only the patient but their families as well.
The on-site nurses and aides are great. Heartland’s administrative support is a different story. We were told supplies had been ordered and that was not the case on many occasions. Promised call backs from the doctor came 4 days later than promised and that took a call to the administrator for that to happen. Same lack of response for the nurse manager.
