Caregiver Job Description
Our client, a home care agency, is seeking an in home personal caregiver. As live in caregiver you will be able to reside in your private room with full access to the exceptional living quarters. This caregiver will be flexible and able to adjust to changing priorities as needed. Being a caregiver in this role is a definite calling that is very rewarding. You will build a lasting relationship and assist a person who may be elderly and fragile. This role requires someone who is trustworthy, work independently with the ability to perform you job in an energetic, self directed manner. You will solely be responsible for an in a home setting and help with activities of daily living, such as bathing and bathroom functions, feeding, grooming, medication, shopping. You will also help the client make and keep appointments with doctors, provide or arrange transportation, and serve as a companion. It will be necessary to maintain open communication between families and administration staff regarding the client's medical and emotional condition. You will also document and report any changes in the client's health status, as well as ensure client safety and well-be. Provide personal care services and companion services according to a written and agreed upon Plan of Care. Adhere to mandatory weekly schedule Provide personal care services and assist in activities of daily living including, but not limited to, personal hygiene (bathing, showering, shaving, etc.), eating, dressing. Other job duties may include, but are not limited to: Planning and preparing meals, shopping, providing transportation, reminding the client to take medications, delivering pre-setup medications, assisting with walking, letter writing and correspondence, taking out the garbage, helping with clothing selection, maintaining client calendar, discussing current events, playing games, participating in crafts, reading, watching TV, dropping off and picking up dry cleaning, overseeing home deliveries, monitoring food expirations, handle night time needs/interruptions, etc. Demonstrate sound critical thinking skills, utilizing logic and reasoning to understand, analyze and evaluate complex situations and research information to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to the situation. Excellent ability to communicate ideas effectively to patient. Excellent ability to listen and understand information and ideas presented verbally. Possess the ability to work effectively and patiently with age related, cognitive or physical limitations. Work with minimal guidance and supervision, but must be willing to work with Administrator to identify support for complex situations. Observe, record, and report any significant changes in the client's condition. Get approval from Administrator to perform other services not listed above. Perform other related duties as directed. Continuing education is encouraged and supported as possible. Bi-lingual Spanish is a plus. Responsibilities and Duties Detail Oriented: adhere to specific rules or schedules that must be followed. People Skills: work in a very personal way with client. You must be sensitive and compassionate with client. Schedule: Keep schedules updated. You will make sure client gets up on time, medication is taken on schedule and client gets to appointments on time and you meet their needs. Responsibility: You will ensure trust to provide the best care to the client and must constantly demonstrate your capabilities and show you are responsible. Throughout the duration of employment the Personal Care Assistant must meet the full job description as stated. Transportation: you will need to get to and from the worksite. During work hours you will have access to a personal driver to run errands
