Full Time job coach supporting people in a janitorial support role
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Training Responsibilities:
• Work with the people supported by NPS (aka individual/participant) to learn skills to be employed and achieve objectives in Individual Habilitation Service Plan (IHSP) and person-centered plans.
• Assist participants, when appropriate, to identify natural job supports.
• Maintain individual intervention sheets including case notes; prepare monthly reports; prepare and update IHSP (semi annual and annual report); maintain individual sub notes.
• Develop systematic task analysis of necessary work skills/responsibilities.
• Provide data as requested on specific goals and objectives in monthly casenotes and monthly reports.
Income opportunities/Volunteer/Paid Work Responsibilities:
• Work with participants to maintain quality control and safety standards on job sites.
• Assist participants, when appropriate, to learn and follow all employer policies and procedures.
• Responsible to maintain records for assigned participants.
• Provide support to assist individuals to process their timecards in Paychex.
• Act as a liason between employers and other NVSS staff
Community Responsibilities:
• Train participants in skills to support their independent living as it relates to their job.
• Work with participants, when necessary, to learn how to interact successfully with others.
• Work with participants to find ways to get to where they need to go (as it pertains to their job) and provide training when necessary.
• Keep emergency numbers and information updated for all individuals in community jobs and classes.
• Promote good public relations in the community both for NVSS and the people supported by NVSS.
Communication Responsibilities:
• Inform Employment Specialist in writing when communication challanges arise.
• Assist in the development and implementation of a participant’s communication plan using person centered skills to document a variety of information including, but not limited to, what is working or not working to promote success.
Safety/Transportation Responsibilities:
• Be aware of safety procedures and location of safety manual.
• Immediately inform management staff if an unsafe situation occurs or is observed.
• Document special incidents on the proper forms as outlined in Special Incident Report, (SIR) procedures.
• Immediately inform management when participant health issues arise.
• Keep job site notebook current with individual emergency numbers and procedures, current task analysis and job site safety sheets.
• Research and provide means of transportation to community training sites; (e.g., City Bus, NVSS van, job coach vehicle) and provide support to participants when necessary.
• Ensure NVSS vehicles are clean pre and post trips and communicate to Employment Specialist and Administration if not.
• Conduct a pre trip safety inspection of all NVSS vehicles.
Other Expectations
• Be familiar with and adhere to NVSS Mission Statement and philosophies.
• Follow agency policies and procedures.
• On behalf of the Agency, help create a working environment that encourages teamwork and work as a team member.
• Follow the Mandated Reporter requirements by immediately communicating concerns of abuse to NVSS management, the Department of Social Services and, when appropriate, the Obudsman and the police.
• Participate in all staff meetings and training sessions related to the position.
• When appropriate, serve on committees.
• Interact, communicate and cooperate well with coworkers, supervisors, subordinates and customers.
• Keep coworkers, supervisor and customers informed.
• Develop professionally by attending conferences/workshops, etc., seek opportunities to learn and grow.
• Take an active role in providing and participating in employee development opportunities.

•
