Caregiver Job Description
This position is responsible for assisting a certified care giver to help create the quality of life and experiences for our residents. On a daily occurrence, this position will assist the care giver with activities of daily living to include performing patient care activities under the supervision of the Certified Care Giver and the Resident Services Manager. Specific Duties: · Support clinical staff with supervision of a CCG in a calm and efficient manner during acute, emergency situations. · Perform housekeeping and other duties such as: Taking and delivering Room Trays, Distribution of daily snacks, Laundry, Resident Escorts, making beds, Empty trash, Wash dishes in sink (both occupied and unoccupied) and clean up after any unusual incontinence or injury as it occurs and responding to call lights as needed,of a CCG the Assistant Care Giver may help measure, record and report vital signs: temperature, pulse, respirations and blood pressure. Weigh residents monthly as ordered and as needed with concern for change in condition. · With direct oversite of a CCG the Assistant Care Giver provide care that minimizes the risk of skin breakdown by being attentive to the resident’s hygiene, proper positioning and injury prevention. Observe and report the presence of skin breakdown to the Director of Clinical Care. · Properly and safely lift, move, transfer and position residents in bed, wheelchairs and while using other equipment; use of gait belts for transfer assistance is mandatory. · Maintain proper care specialist dress code as described in the Alta Vista Employee Handbook. · Provide encouragement of socialization and engagement in activity to promote life enrichment. · Accurately observe, recognize changes and report to the Certified Care Giver and the Director of Clinical Care staff in a timely fashion. Submit via both written and/or verbal communication any changes from norm, or “unusual” observations to the Resident Care Coordinator and/or the Director of Clinical Care in a timely fashion. Report accidents, with or without injury, promptly to immediate supervisor. · Maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive energy toward a calm and peaceful environment. Gossiping is toxic and intolerable. Team members are empowered to insure the “home-like” environment for Residents and “professional” workplace for all Alta Vista staff by redirecting negative energies and reporting unresolved matters to the Director of Clinical Care. · Assist the CCG with helping each resident with their ever-changing needs due to cognitive and physical loss. Qualifications · High School diploma or equivalent · Must be 17 years or older · Current CPR and First Aide Certificates · Current Fingerprint Card · Able to lift between up to 50 pounds · Ability to work in a team environment · Possess written and verbal skills for effective communication in English · Maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment. · Ability to work weekends, holidays and a flexible schedule
