Caregiver Job Description
Our mission is to provide activities and learning that promote social, physical, and psychological growth of individuals with developmental disabilities, so they may achieve their highest level of functioning in a home setting, and may improve their well-being and quality of life. Direct Care Staff perform basic care to developmentally disabled adults in a residential home for people with developmental disabilities. We assist and teach bathing, eating, cleaning, meal preparation, laundry, dressing and toileting skills, etc., using "active treatment" procedures. We perform and teach routine housekeeping tasks including: cooking, cleaning, and laundry. We supervise clients in community integration and recreation activities. We document and chart daily on client behavior, Activities of Daily Living, goals, and habilitation flow sheets. Six months experience as Direct Care Staff or Direct Support Professional, or CNA, a plus, with either an Intermediate Care Facility/DD-H or an Adult Residential Facility and good communication skills. (This is NOT a "Medicol Assistont" position.) We provide staff training on the duties, on regulations, and on teaching strategies. Applicants should be responsible, self-motivated, and self-initiated because there is a lot to do and no time to phone or text friends, or to sit around. COVID-19 did not reduce our staffing numbers. We actually need additional backup staff ready if any staff catch the virus. All residents have been vaccinated and the vaccine is available to staff. Different part time shifts are available and could add up to full time. Day shifts, 6 AM-2 PM & 2 PM-9/10 PM Overnight shifts, 10 PM - 6 AM Driving time to the center of Simi Valley should be 20 minutes or less. Job Type: Part-time, up to full-time.
