Caregiver Job Description
We are currently accepting applications for full time, Direct Care Staff for an Alzheimer's and dementia specific community. The ideal candidate will be patient and friendly with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You should be able to follow instructions, remain calm in high stress situations and perform a variety of tasks to help residents throughout their day. Applicants must have a minimum of one year experience in the long-term care field, a minimum of one year experience working in the dementia field and be available during the week and every other weekend. Applicants must be able to work well in both large and small group environments. Shifts are 12 hours (7a-7p or 7p-7a) and salary is based upon experience. Responsibilities: Remind prescribed medication Assist residents with ambulation and mobility around the house Assist residents with personal care and hygiene Perform light housekeeping duties that residents cannot complete on their own Be a pleasant and supportive companion Report any unusual incidents Act quickly and responsibly in cases of emergency Skills: Proven experience as a caregiver Excellent knowledge of emergency response Willingness to adhere to health and safety standards Respectful and compassionate Good time management skills Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills Strong ethics Physical endurance High school diploma or equivalent
