Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Job Description
JOB SUMMARY: The CNA will provide assistance and support with activities of daily living (bathing/grooming/dressing/feeding/transferring/toileting) to residents within an assisted living/memory care facility. Due to the personal nature of the job, the CNA should have good people skills, a compassionate spirit, and an enjoyment helping others. JOB DUTIES: • Provide quality care and assistance to residents in accordance with the residence philosophy, company policies, and resident rights. • Assist residents in meeting their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. • Adhere to each resident’s individual service plan; notify the Executive Director and Wellness Nurse of any changes in the resident’s condition. • Answer and respond immediately to resident calls, pages, alerts, alarms. • Assist residents with activities of daily living which may include bathing/grooming assistance, transferring residents from chair/bed/toilet, providing assistance with dressing or undressing, assistance with toileting, serving, feeding, or cleaning. • Check on residents with defined check in schedules and document activity. • Assist with resident activities, encourage and assist residents to participate in activities. • Encourage residents to attend meals in the dining room, escort residents to and from the dining room, assist with serving meals, assist residents with meals in ways that meet their individual needs and preferences, observe and report changes in the residents’ appetite and physical abilities to eat and drink. • Encourage resident participation in programs, socialization, and activities by accompanying them and providing encouragement and positive reinforcement. • Assist with cleaning the dining room after the meal service as assigned. • Participate in the community space cleaning schedule as defined by your supervisor. • Wash/Dry/Fold laundry per the laundry schedule and assist residents with laundry as needed. • Establish and maintain good relationship with residents and their families. • Dispose of all incontinent products according to OSHA regulations and residence policy. • Practice proper body mechanics when lifting and follow safety guidelines according to residence policies and procedures. • Respond to resident emergencies following proper residence policy and procedure. • Change bed linens or soiled clothing as needed and discreetly clean and change out necessities for the resident. • Review the care plans for each resident and aide in continuing the care plan as designed. • Recognize and report any questionable or unsafe condition for medication provision. • Protect and maintain resident rights while encouraging and supporting resident independence. • Treat residents, vendors, families, and co-works with a professional, courteous, and help attitude. • Incorporate technology programs and other community supplied activities into resident daily life (music, ipad, etc) • Spend time with and get to personally know each resident to foster relationships with them and their family members. • Responds promptly to resident requests and engages appropriate staff person if unable to fulfill resident needs/requests. • Adheres to The Landing Senior Living Employee Handbook, the Employee Code of Conduct & all policy and procedures set forth by the company. • Perform other projects or duties requested by management. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES & JOB REQUIREMENTS: • Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Certification • Experience in providing care to the elderly. • Ability to relate and work well with various individuals/personalities. • Positive attitude and energy to coach and encourage resident participation. • Ability to use good judgement and make decisions in the best interest of resident safety and well-being of the resident and the company. • Ability to multitask and properly document all aspects of resident care delivery. • Physical abilities demanded by the nursing profession to include aiding with patient transfers, admin
