Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care: Assist patients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and eating.
Vital Signs Monitoring: Measure and record vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rate, and report any changes to nursing staff.
Support for Nursing Staff: Work under the supervision of registered nurses (RNs) and licensed practical nurses (LPNs) to provide care and support to patients.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of patient care, including food and liquid intake, and any changes in patient conditions.
Mobility Assistance: Help patients with mobility, including turning and repositioning bedridden patients, and assisting with walking or transferring patients to different areas.
Emotional Support: Provide comfort and emotional support to patients and their families, helping them navigate health challenges.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Certification: Must have a state-certified nursing assistant certification, which typically requires completion of a state-approved training program and passing an exam.
Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
Compassionate Care: A genuine passion for helping others and providing high-quality patient care.
Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and moving patients, and standing for extended periods.
