Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Job Description
Position Functions:
- Assist residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, changing of bed linens, and positioning in and out a bed, chair, etc.
- Assist with resident recreation programs
- Prepare residents for meals and snacks, and assist residents in eating when needed and record food intake.
- Read and follow daily care plans; perform assigned restorative and rehabilitative procedures; report changes to Nurse in charge; document care provision on resident record/flow sheets as required; report accidents and incidents.
- Follow safety and sanitation rules and promptly report any injuries or violations.
- Understand, comply with, and promote all rules regarding residents' rights.
- Promote positive relationships with residents, visitors, and government regulators to include presenting a professional appearance and attitude.
- Assist in admission, transfer, and discharge of residents.
- Attend and participate in training, educational activities, and staff meetings; assist in orientation and training other staff.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Must be certified as a Certified Nursing Assistant in good standing and currently licensed by Texas, or must within four (4) months of employment have completed state-required training and a competency evaluation program.
- Must be able to relate positively to residents and families.
- Must be able to supervise employees and work cooperatively with other employees to meet resident care objectives.
- Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance.
