Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Job Description
A Hospice Aide, under the direction of a Registered Nurse, provides care and assistance to terminally ill patients within the scope of experience and ability, including: Clean and bathe patients Assistance in toileting Maintain patients’ hygiene and change bedding Turn, reposition and transfer or move patients between wheelchairs, seats and beds Serve meals and help patients eat their food Assist in cleaning and housekeeping of patient area Maintain par stock of supplies on hand Measure vital signs like blood pressure and temperature Observe and listen to patients regarding any health concerns they might have and report details or changes in condition to Registered Nurse Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, with weekends as scheduled. Care site: private residences, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, apartments EXEMPT/NON-EXEMPT: Full time non-exempt with benefits PROFESSIONAL: Completion of State approved Nurse Aide course, testing, and registration required. At least one of year experience in a patient care position in a hospital, nursing home, or related health care facility preferred. High school diploma or equivalent preferred. PERSONAL: Personal qualities of empathy, responsibility, and dependability. Must demonstrate effective communication skills with team members, clients, and family members. Must have ability to accept supervision and follow instructions. Must carry state minimum in automobile liability insurance. PHYSICAL JOB: Must be able to access patient homes and facilities independently. Must demonstrate proper use of personal protective equipment and observe universal precautions. Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds using proper body mechanics. Must have valid driver's license, current auto insurance and reliable transportation.
