Home Care Aide (HCA) Job Description
Job Summary: Home Care Aides provide personal care and related services in the client’s home or living facility. Home Care Aides functions under the direct supervision of Elite Caregivers who coordinate the client care. Qualifications: Prior CNA experience is preferred, but not required for hire. Current Personal Attendant Certificate or Caregiver Certificate, CNA/HHA Certificate is a plus for hire. Must have a current TB clearance, valid driver’s license, proof of current auto insurance, and a good driving record from DMV, and must pass a complete background check for employment. Home Care Aide Job Description: An HCA is a person who is referred to as a professional individual who assists clients to perform or completing daily tasks. An HCA will usually visit the home of a client, but may also work out of other living facilities. An HCA must be able to follow directions and work independently with minimal supervision. The HCA must have a working cell phone with the ability to receive messages and the ability to access the internet to receive an email, job requisitions, and other important memos. HCA is usually responsible for attending to the specific needs of a senior client, but may also attend to the needs of an infant or a disabled adult. HCAs serve a key role in the home care industry. Ensure that those under their care are clean, properly fed, and safe. An HCA will be expected to protect the safety and well-being of the client. The responsibilities can be diverse and encompass many aspects of care. Generally, work in a client’s home and help with a variety of tasks. HCA's are responsible for assisting clients to receive a proper diet and meals along with preparation of meals and in some cases grocery shopping. HCA assists in cleaning; takes the client out on errands and assists with other daily activities. When caring for a client HCA will also be responsible for a client’s wellbeing. This may include assisting to monitor vital signs, monitoring glucose, and will assist the client to keep a logbook for their doctor, or assist with the daily meal planning. The HCA will be responsible to communicate all aspects of the client’s daily needs to the team members.
