Home Health Aide (HHA) Job Description
1. Assist with personal hygiene care for clients such as bathing, toileting, mouth and teeth care, and eating. 2. Assist with meal preparation and planning. 3. Assist with ambulation, getting out of bed to chair. 4. Assist with shopping duties for clients; pick up medications, etc. 5. Assist with light housekeeping duties (cleaning, laundry, etc.). 6. Provide emotional support for the client when needed. 7. Provide companion, sitter or respite care. 8. Maintain accurate documentation in performance of assigned tasks. 9. Assist medication reminders (Aides DO NOT give medication to client). 10. Adherence to policies and procedures. 11. Reporting any changes in the client's condition. 12. Performing or assisting the client with activities of daily living. 13. Providing accurate and consistent information to the agency, the client and their families. 14. Collaboration with the agency team members. 15. Recognizing any side effects, toxic effects or allergic reactions or contraindications involved in a client's pharmaceutical needs. 16. Light housekeeping duties related to client care inclusive of but not limited to: a. Client meal preparation. b. Cleaning of kitchen area and utensils used for client meal preparation. c. Daily linen changes. d. Laundry of any articles used by the client. e. Maintaining clean, safe and obstacle free client area. 17. Provision of emotional support in, accordance with the psychosocial needs.
