Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Job Description

We have a 11pm to 7am and 3pm to 11pm part-time opportunity. SUMMARY OF JOB: · The LPN is responsible for providing direct nursing care to the residents, and supervision and direction of the day to day activities performed by the nursing assistants in accordance with current guidelines and regulations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: · Follow established standards of nursing practice and implement facility policies and procedures. · Interpret existing policies and procedures to nursing assistants, restorative nursing assistants, residents, families and physicians. · Provide direct resident care and give instruction to nursing assistants related to resident care. · Obtain report from nurse being relieved and record sufficient information to implement appropriate follow-up action as necessary. · Provide report to nurse coming on duty including sufficient information for follow-up action if necessary. · Conduct resident rounds, reporting problems to unit manager/supervisor and initiating corrective action. · Count narcotics, at the beginning and end of each shift. · Identify resident problems and emergency situations, and initiate appropriate action. · Participate in facility education programs, staff meetings, in-service education and committee meetings as assigned. · Counsel nursing assistants and recommend disciplinary action, when necessary, to the unit manager/supervisor. · Participate in the employee evaluation process. · Administer and document medication treatments per physician’s orders. · Review and revise resident care plans as necessary. · Document resident care provided and resident’s response/lack of response to care provided. · Follow facility admission procedures and communicate resident admission to other departments and physicians. · Perform other duties as assigned by Unit Manager or Shift Supevisor, as needed. EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: LPN: Graduate of an approved School of Practical Nursing Current license as an LPN in the state of Pennsylvania EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: Knowledge of current nursing practices Knowledge of current pharmacological interventions and appropriate administration. Knowledge of state and federal regulations in Long Term Care. Working knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid and appropriate administration Basic computer skills. Apply today!
