Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Job Description
Must be graduate of an approved L1. Ability to follow established standards of nursing practices and implement facility policies and procedures. 2. Ability to interpret existing policies and procedures to nursing assistants, restorative nursing assistants, residents, families, and physicians. 3. Ability to supervise and evaluate all direct resident care and initiate corrective action as necessary. 4. Ability to obtain report from nurse he/she is relieving and record sufficient information to implement appropriate follow-up action as necessary. 5. Ability to provide report to nurse coming on duty, including sufficient information for follow-up action if necessary. 6. Ability to conduct resident rounds daily, reporting problems to nursing supervisor and initiating corrective action. 7. Ability to identify safety hazards and initiate corrective action immediately. 8. Ability to identify resident problems and emergency situations, and initiate immediate “lifesaving” measures. 9. Ability to follow, supervise and evaluate the implementation of the resident’s Rights Program. 10. Ability to provide clinical supervision of nursing assistants providing direct resident care. 11. Ability to attend staff meeting, in-service classes, and committee meetings as assigned. 12. Ability to follow staffing guidelines and make nursing assignments according to qualifications of staff and characteristics of the resident population. 13. Ability to assume responsibility for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations within the assigned unit. 14. Ability to counsel nursing assistants and recommend disciplinary action, when necessary, to the Director of Nursing Service. 15. Ability to complete report for facility committees as assigned. 16. Ability to administer and document medications and treatments per the physician’s order and accurately record all care provided. 17. Ability to document comprehensive assessment of each resident. 18. Ability to perform comprehensive assessment of each resident. PN or RN program with a current Oklahoma License. 19. Other job duties as assigned.
