Personal Attendant / Caregiver
Job Summary
The functions of a personal attendant / caregiver are to provide personal assistance to the clients in their home, help maintain a safe and clean environment, work closely with them and their family members, and report problems and observations directly to the supervisor.
Job Qualifications
Education:
High School or GED preferred
Licensure:
Must have a driver’s license or reliable transportation in order to travel to a specific place of assignment.
Experience:
At least 18 years old and must provide a proof of education and/or experience to be able to accomplish the assigned tasks.
Skills:
Able to read and write in English and must be able to effectively follow verbal and written instructions in English.
Transportation:
Reliable transportation. Valid and current auto liability insurance
Criminal History:
Must consent to and pass a criminal history check and employee misconduct registry check.
Environment and Working Conditions
By working in a client’s residence, you may experience various conditions such as exposure to body fluids, infectious diseases, and unpleasant weather. As a personal attendant /caregiver, you must be capable of working in flexible schedules and willing to travel locally.
Physical and Mental Effort
A personal attendant / caregiver is required to stand and walk for long hours and work under stressful conditions. An attendant must also have the capability to lift up to 50 pounds and able to move or transfer clients. Hand-eye coordination, manual dexterity, and ability to use different medical equipment are also necessary for this job.
