Personal Care Assistant (PCA) Job Description
Overview
The Home Health Aide/Personal Care Assistant provides non-medical, in-home support to clients who require assistance with daily living activities. This role focuses on promoting client safety, comfort, dignity, and overall well-being while enabling clients to remain independent in their own homes for as long as possible. The caregiver will assist with personal care needs, mobility support, household tasks, companionship, and basic health observation, while maintaining accurate documentation and communicating effectively with supervisors and family members.
Description
Provide companion care to reduce isolation and promote emotional well-being through friendly conversation, recreational engagement, safety supervision, and accompaniment to appointments and social outings.
Deliver personal care assistance (ADLs) including bathing, grooming, hygiene, dressing, toileting, continence care, and safe mobility or transfer support while maintaining client dignity and privacy.
Perform homemaker and household support tasks such as light housekeeping, laundry, meal preparation, assistance with feeding, grocery shopping, and running errands to maintain a safe and comfortable home environment.
Offer errand support, including grocery, pharmacy runs, and assistance with community or family visits.
Provide dementia and Alzheimer’s support through routine-based care, redirection, cognitive engagement activities, safety monitoring, and ongoing communication with family members.
Deliver respite care services to provide temporary relief for family caregivers, including hourly, daily, or short-term in-home coverage with flexible scheduling.
Support clients requiring overnight or extended-hour care, including overnight supervision, sleep-in or awake shifts, and coordination of 24/7 care coverage as needed.
Salary range
$13 - $18 per hour
