Personal Care Assistant (PCA) Job Description
Are you seeking a career change or flexible hours? We have an immediate need for a Personal Care Assistant throughout the state of South Carolina. Experience in in-home or experience in care giving is preferable, but not required. Must demonstrate the ability to work well with seniors, pediatrics and young adults who have limited functionality. Applicant must exhibit basic qualities of warmth and maturity to be able to respond to participants and situations in a responsible manner. Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent Must be at least 18 years of age Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Must pass background screen 2 Step-TB Test Current South Carolina Driver's License CPR Certification Additional requirements: Physical ability to walk, stoop, lift up to 50lbs, bend, kneel and stand for periods of a time. Communication skills are essential to this job. The responsibilities of the Personal Care Attendant/Assistant are categorized into personal care and light home management tasks that follow the provider services plan. A Personal Care Attendant/Assistant may perform both personal care tasks and home management tasks that may include, but is not limited to, the following: Provides the following personal care: 1. Mouth and denture care 2. Shaving 3. Finger and toenail care (No cutting) 4. Grooming hair – shampooing, combing, and oiling 5. Bathing – bed bath, showering or tub bathing (partial or complete) 6. Helps with dressing 7. Helps with toileting – bed pan, commode/chair or urinal (emptying and cleaning) 8. Reminds participant to take medication 9. Helps with eating 10.Transferring or changing the participants body position 11.Helps with ambulation
