Personal Care Assistant (PCA) Job Description
Qualifications 1. Citizen of the United States 2. Minimum age of 18 years old 3. Mature, Mannerly and Professional 4. Normal dexterity, visual and hearing within normal limits, ability to speak and write the English language and carry out directions competently, as assigned. 5. Must possess a Smart Phone with data. You must be able to check into LASRS for every shift you work. A Direct Service Worker is an unlicensed person who provides personal care of other services and supports to persons with disabilities or to the elderly to enhance their well being, and who is involved in face to face direct contact with the person. Functions performed may include, but are not limited to, assistance and training activities of daily living, personal care services, instrumental activities of daily living, job-related supports, transportation, shopping and medication administration. Physical requirements for the job are client specific and are outlined on the client’s plan of care. Direct Service Workers who work in a Supervised Independent Living home are required to assist with all the above and including, but are not limited to, assistance with money management and other tasks as needed. All Direct Service Workers are tending to the needs of the consumer only. The DSW cannot perform tasks for the general family in the household. All Direct Service Workers are mandated to attend and receive 8 hours face to face training, on an annual basis, which include, but are not limited to, Abuse/Neglect, Home Safety, Fire Safety, and Personal Hygiene. All Direct Service Workers are mandated to attend and receive Defensive Driving within 90 days upon hire and every 3 years thereafter. It is the Direct Service Workers responsibility to notify the office immediately after receiving a moving violation and retake Defensive Driving within 90 days. DSW’s who work in transport homes are only allowed two flags on their license. Should you have more than two, you will be changed to a DNT and removed from transport home. All Direct Service Workers are mandated to attend and complete basic 1st aid training within 45 days upon hire and every 2 years thereafter.
