Personal Care Assistant (PCA) Job Description
Provides personal care and related services in the home according to Plan of Care, assigned and under the direction, instruction and supervision of the Registered Nurse. Job Description: - Follows the Plan of Care to provide safe and competent care to the client. - Encourages client to become as independent as possible per care plan. - The Personal Care Worker shall perform the following tasks based on the Plan of Care: 1. Assistance with bathing; 2. Assistance with getting in and out of bed; 3. Teeth, mouth, denture and hair care; 4. Assistance with mobility and ambulation; 5. Changing client's bed and laundering bed linens and client's personal clothing; 6. Skin care excluding wound care; 7. Care of eyeglasses and hearing aids; 8. Assistance with dressing and undressing; 9. Toileting; 10. Light cleaning in essential areas of the home used during personal care activities; 11. Meal preparation; 12. Simple transfers; and 13. Accompanying client to obtain medical diagnosis and treatment. - Give simple emotional and psychological support to client - Report client health changes - Performs tasks assigned by RN Supervisor Requirements/Qualifications: - Preferably a high school diploma or equivalent. - Required Background Check - Be free from health problems that may be injurious to client, self, and co-workers. - Be trained in the provision of personal care services or ability to be trained through the agency.
