Personal Care Assistant (PCA) Job Description
• Caring, compassionate, and encouraging when assisting residents with activities of daily living; including, but not limited to bathing, toileting, dressing, and grooming to assure residents are comfortable and properly cared for at all times. • Assists residents with medications under the supervision of the Administrator, or shift designee. • Assists residents with transfers. • Answer resident room call lights and security door alarms. • Assists in setting up the dining room in preparation for meal time; cleaning up kitchen and dining room after meals. • Assists in transporting residents to dinning room, assists residents in eating and serving residents throughout the mealtime. • Assists residents with reading, writing letters and making telephone calls. • Assist in caring out duties not performed by housekeeping personnel; i.e., tidying residents’ rooms, cleaning dining room, make and strip beds and washing linens as directed. • Make rounds to ensure all resident are comfortable and noting any changes in resident condition. • Assists in directing visitors, running errands and answering telephone when receptionist is not available. • Actively support and participate in activity programs, and encourage resident participation. • Complete all orientation and training requirements as outlined by state regulations and facility policies and procedures. • Performs other duties as assigned.
