Registered Nurse (RN) Job Description
Responsibilities: • Assigns, directs, educates and monitors nursing and support staff. May provide input for hiring, training, directing, development and evaluating of staff. • Assesses daily patient care needs and develops and distributes patient care assignments, ensuring that population appropriate patient care is given. • Evaluates the effectiveness of patient care and identifies any issues that affect desired patient outcomes. Assures resident safety by identifying safety hazards and emergency situations and initiates corrective action as appropriate. • Responds to complaints about patient care and manages through established channels. Education: • High School Diploma/GED required • Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing required. Licensure / Certification / Registration: Required Credential(s): • BLS Provider obtained within 3 Months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date. • Registered Nurse credentialed from the New York Board of Nursing. Complexity of Work: • Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment. Personal Protective Equipment: • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
