Registered Nurse (RN) Job Description
Primary Responsibilities:
• Supervise daily clinical operations of the assigned unit to ensure quality resident care is delivered.
• Oversee and coordinate care plans, assessments, and documentation for all residents on the unit.
• Supervise and support RNs, LPNs, and STNAs; provide guidance, coaching, and corrective action as needed.
• Conduct daily rounds to monitor resident condition, ensure care plan compliance, and address any concerns.
• Ensure timely completion of admissions, discharges, and transfers, including all required documentation.
• Communicate with physicians, interdisciplinary team members, residents, and families regarding care plans and health changes.
• Monitor medication administration and treatment procedures for compliance and accuracy.
• Investigate incidents, falls, and complaints on the unit; implement corrective measures and complete reports.
• Ensure proper infection control practices and participate in audits, surveys, and quality assurance programs.
• Track and manage staffing assignments, ensuring coverage meets resident needs and acuity.
• Attend and lead care plan meetings, shift reports, and department huddles as assigned.
Leadership & Compliance:
• Uphold and enforce facility policies and procedures, including those related to safety, HIPAA, and professional conduct.
• Promote a positive and respectful working environment for staff and residents.
• Provide staff education and in-service training as directed by the Director of Nursing.
• Monitor and address performance issues in collaboration with HR or administration.
• Participate in on-call rotation for clinical support as required.
