Registered Nurse (RN) Job Description
Position Summary: Responsible for oversight of clinical services provided to all residents. Delegates provision of all clinical services to LPNs, caregivers and medication technicians . Provides complete oversight of medication administration and supervision of medication administration to residents in compliance with regulations. Teaches approved medication administration training programs and procedures. Ensures provision of quality resident care and the promotion of ongoing resident wellness . Responsibilities of the Position: • Perform initial, significant change in condition, and ongoing resident assessments using the approved documents. • Provide ongoing routine assessment of the clinical status of the residents at least once every 45 days. Document all findings . • Assess the competency of all medication technicians administering medications through direct observation and review of the Medication Administration Records (MAR) . • Assess the complexity of the task to be delegated . • Assess the environment in which the task is to be performed . • Determine the instruction and frequency of supervision required to monitor the caregivers • Maintain open communication with residents, physicians, and responsible parties to ensure optimal provision of care to the residents . • Protect resident rights and confidentiality of information according to state and federal laws • Attend and participate in staff meetings and continuing educational in-services . • Expand personal development in nursing, management performance, knowledge of regulatory issues and communication skills . • In conjunction with management, monitor and enforce compliance with company policies and procedures, pharmacy policies and procedures, and regulations. • Provide after-hours guidance on resident care issues. • Exhibit competent nursing judgment, including demonstrated knowledge of standard nursing practices and ability to effectively evaluate operation procedures to determine if they meet standard nursing protocol. • Ability to comprehend and teach medication administration, documentation and clinical assessment skills to nursing staff and others. • In conjunction with management, monitor and enforce compliance with company policies and procedures, pharmacy policies and procedures, and regulations. • Provide after-hours guidance on resident care issues. • Exhibit competent nursing judgment, including demonstrated knowledge of standard nursing practices and ability to effectively evaluate operation procedures to determine if they meet standard nursing protocol. • Ability to comprehend and teach medication administration, documentation and clinical assessment skills to nursing staff and others. Work environment: • Ability to perform physical tasks for extended periods of time. • Ability to stand, sit, walk, kneel, reach, stretch, carry up to 15 lbs. and to support up to 70 lbs. • Ability to secure proper assistance for transferring and lifting residents as needed. • Ability to travel. Minimum qualifications: • RN license in good standing. • Minimum of one year experience in assisted living or other healthcare setting. • Prior supervisory experience in healthcare. • Associate degree in nursing; bachelors degree in nursing preferred.
