Duties and Responsibilities • Adheres to and conveys philosophy of supporting dignity, privacy, independence, choice, individuality and a home-like environment for the residents. • Present a professional image & exhibit a manner that is cordial and respectful • Communicate and maintain positive relationships with employees, residents, and family members • Use integrity, good judgement, and problem-solving skills in making decisions • Compile and maintain accurate reporting as required/requested • Follow established standards of nursing practices and implement facility policies and procedures • Supervise and evaluate Certified Nursing Assistants providing direct resident care and initiate corrective action as necessary • Maintain open communication with outgoing and incoming nursing staff during change of shift • Conduct resident care rounds, report issues to Unit Manager and initiate corrective action • Identify resident problems and respond to resident emergencies by initiating emergency care in a calm and effective manner • Serve as an advocate for the residents by maintaining the Resident’s Rights • Promptly report changes in resident status to the Physician, Unit Manager and/or Director of Nursing and take follow up action as necessary • Follow admission/discharge/transfer procedures and communicate resident admission to Interdisciplinary Team, Physicians, and other ancillary service providers • Competently perform basic nursing skills • Listen to resident, family, and physician concerns and initiate corrective action and/or report concerns to the Unit Manager • Monitor meal service to ensure proper diet is served and residents are assisted as necessary • Supervise the application and removal of all devices used to position and enable resident to function as independently as possible • Undertake various office responsibilities: answer calls, and reply to messages, execute triage within the scope of registered nursing in an accurate precise way • Complete accident/incident reports as necessary per policies and procedures • Chart nurses’ notes in an informative and descriptive manner that reflects the care provided to the resident as well as the resident’s response to care • Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis as well as a calm environment throughout the unit and staff • Report to work on-time and ready for the work day • Attend/complete required in-services and other mandatory trainings and meetings • Other duties as assigned
