Job Description: Director of Nursing (D.O.N) Duties: Generally, the Director of Nursing perform key functions, such as supervising nursing staff, overseeing budgets, maintaining standards of care, and ensuring the smooth running of the entire agency clinical activities. The D.O.N. is responsible for ensuring that assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation of nursing care for the client is carried out in an appropriate and consistent manner by RN supervisors, RNs, LPNs, and CNAs/CMTs or HHAs/CMTs. The DON is also responsible for formatting care plans in partnership with the other members of the client's multi-disciplinary team like the nursing supervisors Performs or delegates the nurse supervisor, RN, to perform the initial client assessment on the clients and family to identify variables that may affect client behavior. Ensure and assist the RN supervisors, RNs, LPN, and CNAs/CMTs or HHAs/CMTs in identifying a wide range of problems and helps to determine and prioritize care plan approaches, goals, and objectives. Oversees all patient care services to include assurance that patient needs are continually assessed, and assuring the development, implementation, and updates of the patient's individualized plan of care. Maintain open communication to ensure that the family and client are involved with the overall care of the client and are aware of patients’ rights and responsibilities. Address all client/family concerns and/ or complaints verbally and in writing, carries out investigation, and implements corrective action. Perform on-site visits to the family on scheduled visit to listen to the patients and their family for concerns, and their satisfaction of care provided. Develop and generate Doctor’s Orders (Home Health Certification and Plan of Care, 485) on time. Conducts and ensure skills assessment and training to all clinical staff as required under specific job description. Interview new hired contractor, RN, LPN, and CNA/HHA. Conducting clinical meetings to ensure that the RN supervisors, nurses, and CNA/HHA are following the appropriate plan of care. Reviewing the nurses' clinical notes to ensure compliance with quality of care provided. Ensure and assist the administrative team in maintaining clinical files on all clients including physician orders and supervisors' visits. Liaises with the governmental agencies and surveyor in attending to the problem of compliance and quality of care provided to the clients. Represent the agency in conferences and training mandates as may be available or required of the agency by the compliance compliant agency. Be available 24 hours to attend to the needs of clients, nurses, and other emergencies as they may occur.
