I visited my mom every day to advocate for her unique needs, but the communication never reached the right people. I understand that facilities are often understaffed, but this one needs to do a better job of trusting families when we raise concerns--we know our loved ones best. There was a clear lack of accountability regarding a bed sore, growing edema and pain that was allowed to worsen despite our concerns. We had to escalate the issue to the director of staffing, who finally took some action--but even then, they tried to minimize the situation and dismiss my mom's pain. The Director of Nursing passed us off to my mom's assigned RN and LVN, who often seemed completely unaware of her condition or care plan. My mom suffered for nearly three weeks due to untreated diverticulitis. Rather than investigate the cause of her pain, the staff defaulted to medicating her without looking deeper. After reporting blood in her stool on a Saturday call, I arrived Monday to find the nurses unaware of the symptom--until they suddenly decided it was serious once I brought it up again. It was only then that they discussed rehospitalization, something I had already pushed for earlier if her condition worsened. The communication here was consistently poor. The doctor hadn't even reviewed the lab results I requested, and the nurse practitioner seemed confused both times I spoke with her, admitting, "I just have too many patients to keep track." Stay away from this place if your loved one has unique or complex medical needs. Their system is reactive, disorganized, and deeply flawed.
I highly recommend this skilled nursing facility. The facility is beautiful, clean, and spacious. Food was great. Staff is compassionate and knowledgeable. Therapy was top notch. 100% recommended.
The staff couldn't be more friendly, which is incredibly rare in a skilled nursing environment. It's quiet and clean, and the patients aren't practically on top of each other. Will try to request this facility for rehab every time.
loved loved loved the staff but EXTREMELY pissed because my father was unable to speak or eat and i had to sign about 7 pieces of paper including in the circumstance if he were to stop breathing would i want them to resuscitate???? extremely tramatic experience when i call for the last 2 weeks Liz had been dodging my calls and trying to call my dad etc and pretending like she’s trying to help me. mt lawyer is requesting them and i get HIPPA but anything with my signature ESPECIALLY SERIOUSLY LEGAL DOCUMENTS is absolutely my right. i’m reporting them to the board like i’ve had to do with my “health providers” in the past. i thought this was a good facility but obviously they don’t care at all it’s just another big money pit for them
Alta Healthcare has helped so many of our seniors recover after a hospital visit. The staff is great and their services are excellent. Thank you, Alta for taking such good care of our seniors.
