We had our family member (FM) discharged early from this place because the level of attention and care received was poor. Some of the nursing staff are very good but the majority of the Aids shouldn't be allowed to work with patients. Most of them are on their phones or chatting at the nurses station and dont answer call buttons and when they do they are rude and act put out! Most requests were met with attitude and rudeness. I even got attitude for asking an Aid to empty the piss out of the pot in the potty chair because it was smelly. Then after I left that Aid gave our FM attitude for the rest of her shift. Our FM was also left on the potty a number of times for up to 30 minutes and when an Aid finally showed up to clean her they were rude and rough and didnt do a good job cleaning her so she had to sit in her feces covered panties until the next shift arrived because she was scared to call the Aid back in to finish the cleaning properly. PT would take our FM to the PT room and leave her sit in her wheelchair with no PT given - this happened twice in 8 days. Food trays were delivered consistently but the food was nasty, under cooked and arrived cold. We will not consider this place for any of our future after care needs and if you care about your loved one, you shouldn't either. We were very hopeful that Regency at Canton would be a good place but boy were we fooled! As in another review, take a walk thru first and make note of nursing staff and what they're doing and not doing. I really hope we get something from Medicare asking for our rating of this place!
Our family couldn’t be more grateful for the wonderful care my 88 year mama received during her 4-week stay at Regency of Canton. My mama has dementia & Parkinson’s. Every staff member — from nurses & therapists to aides & administrative staff — treated her with kindness, respect, and genuine compassion. The facility was always clean and well-organized, and the team went above and beyond to make sure she was comfortable and supported throughout her recovery.
My son went here for Rehab. All the staff and therapists were great. Sassy was great. Made him laugh. The building is beautiful. I enjoyed coming to the building to visit with my son. Everyone was friendly and kind. If I ever had to go for Rehab I would choose Regency at Canton.
I was quite unsure what to expect, given the horror stories about these places, but I was instantly at ease. The facility is beautiful, the staff is wonderful, and it's obvious that they care about their patients and that they love what they do. Each patient is treated like family, and made to feel like they are at home. They even took me to my Drs appts! IThough I love all the staff, T, who works nights, quickly became my favorite (and Connie), because she listens, she's very loving and compassionate, and she does her job VERY well! I would absolutely recommend this fantastic place to anyone. I would just like to (belatedly) add that I was being treated for a wound on my left heel, and Angie took care of my wound and was phenomenal at caring for it, and my wound vac. She proved time and again how well she knows her stuff! The icing on the cake - like T and Connie, Angie has a wonderful, amazing personality. I genuinely miss all of the friends I made during my three week stay, but I especially miss T. And T, I really hope you read this, bc I want you to know how special you are. I love and miss you SO much, my friend. You're in my thoughts and prayers constantly, and rest assured, I'll be back to visit you and Angie just as soon as I can! (I love you Connie!) XO XO 😘
My elderly family member was sent to Regency at Canton to receive care and physical therapy to help strengthen him. He arrived in good condition, but within just a few days, he had to be rushed to the emergency room. There, we learned he had suffered hip and rib fractures that required lifesaving surgery. When he left the facility, he was no longer able to talk and was largely unresponsive to communication — the result of the neglect and lack of proper care he experienced there. Please, protect your loved ones. While at the hospital, we spoke with others who had similar experiences — their loved ones left the same facility with blood clots and pneumonia. We believe that if we hadn’t intervened and demanded his transfer, our family member could have faced the same fate. During his stay, it was nearly impossible to reach anyone by phone, even after calling for hours. When we visited in person, response times to the call light ranged from 30 minutes to over an hour. Staff told us a doctor was onsite and would come by, but after waiting an hour and a half, we were suddenly told no doctor was present at all. When we raised concerns about a possible fall, the staff dismissed it, saying he was just “tired.” Their lack of urgency and compassion was deeply troubling. When the fire department arrived to assist, they too expressed concern over his condition. After he was transferred to the hospital, we finally understood why he had been saying “ouch” and had become so unresponsive — he had been seriously injured. Elder neglect and abuse are heartbreaking realities. Please, protect your family members and think twice before entrusting them to this facility. Our loved one went from simply needing physical therapy to requiring emergency surgery — all within one weekend.
