I cannot say enough about this facility and especially their director of nursing, Jillian. Choosing a nursing home for my grandma with serious health issues was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make. But from the very beginning, Canton Christian Home has exceeded every expectation. Jillian has gone above and beyond, and I feel fortunate to have her caring for grandma. I’m also thankful she tolerates me because, let’s be honest, this is tough stuff. Feelings can overtake the facts, but Jillian is patient with me and explains things in depth. From late night returned calls while she is at home to using her time to coordinate care from Florida (where grandma lived) to Ohio, she’s top-notch! The entire staff reflects that same level of care, all the way to the food service folks! My grandma is not just a patient here, but she is treated like family. Her health needs are handled with skill, patience, and honesty. I’ve seen firsthand how much time and attention go into her care, and it gives me so much peace of mind knowing she’s in such capable hands.

Staff was very caring and did well with my dad. Communication with Director of Nursing and other administrators was non-existent. Jillian the DON is the rudest, most condescending person I have worked with. She talked to my elderly father and mother as if they were children, she came to the meeting (we finally had to request) uniformed about his care. Thank goodness there were other staff there that were much more knowledgeable. I feel very bad for any nurse or staff that have to work under her. I would not recommend sending your loved one here if you expect any level of communication about their care or what their plan is to discharge them.

If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. The majority of the staff are rude. Not all, but more than 3/4 of the staff we encountered. On a couple of occasions, my loved one was told, “ we don’t have time for you right now.” Concerns were voiced but nothing changed. It took nearly 45 minutes for the call light to be answered. My loved one had to sit in feces and wait to be cleaned up on several occasions. I am aware that these things happen on occasion but this was nearly every time my loved one expressed needing to use the restroom. My family member was choking on a pill at one point and the nurse started walking out and stated “I’ll be back.” The Director of Nursing, Jillian, is rude, condescending and appears to hate people judging by the smug look on her face each time she is present, which tells me this isn’t the right job for her. She lacks any compassion toward patients and their family members. There are a few very compassionate staff members that exude empathy and respect with each encounter, but the bad definitely outweighs the good. If you love and value your loved one, please move on to the next facility. This isn’t the one for your loved one. Now, if you hate your family and want them to suffer, this place is perfect for you.

The assisted living is amazing. The family like bond the residents have with the nurses and staff is something I have not seen in many facilities. Kelly S. Over that department has so much love and compassion for everyone. I can only pray to be cared for like this when my time comes.

I assumed Canton Christian Home would be just like all the other nursing homes. However, as I walked the halls I could see that the staff were friendly and the residents seemed content. Everyone all the way up to the DON were very helpful and took the time to answer all my questions.
