I am pleased with the care my mother has been receiving at Medicalodges. The nursing staff, as well as the administrators, are very communicative regarding my mother's health and happiness. They contact me if they have any concerns and let me know exactly what they are doing for her. I go every two days or so and have spent time observing the staff and residents. There have been changes in staffing, which is always hard, but I am pleased with the communication and attention they give when they are not aware that I am watching their behavior. I have a good relationship with the staff, and my mom tells me she is happy. They go out of their way to help me and are friendly with me. I try to get to know the staff, always introduce myself and ask if I can help. They listen to me, which is positive for my mom's wellbeing and health. I am happy with the new family counsel and look forward to attending those meetings, as well as the family events they have started. Some of the residents have gotten to know me and when I hug my mom, they reach out to me for hugs too! Getting to know the staff, as well as the residents, has helped me feel comfortable leaving my mom in their care.
My grandma has lived here for 3 years. During this time we never had any issues, problems, or concerns up until about 2 months ago when a new DON started. Before she started it was very friendly, warm, and a compassionate environment there. Since this DON has been there it’s become a very cold, negative, and institutionalized environment. Many of the staff members are no longer there over the course of these two months. Those that have left were some of the best, most caring, kind, and compassionate staff. During my many visits there over the past 2 months, I have never seen this new DON out of her office interacting or engaging with any residents or staff. This may be because nearly all of the staff there now is from agencies. This situation here has really seemed to impact my grandma and many other of the other people that live there. So much so that my family and I are looking to move my grandma out of there asap. I would recommend to any other families that have a loved one here to do the same as well. The care for the residents here is at best substandard now. I can only attribute this drastic change to the leadership and new DON in this building now.
This facility has been on a downward spiral over the past three months and doesn’t seem to be trending upwards anytime soon. Residents that are completely dependent on staff are always left in their chairs in the living room or in the dining room for hours. I see very little interaction between them and staff. Agency staff now makes up about 3/4 of their nursing staff. Which is complete contrast from summer and fall, when there was no agency staff at all. Meals are always late and the dining room tables and floor look like they are only cleaned once a day. Residents are wheeled around without their hair being combed and with food on their faces and clothes. Over the summer and fall going in there felt welcoming and had a home like feel with familiar, friendly, and smiling faces. Coming into this place now feels tense and very hospital like.
The caring staff provides excellent care of the residents of this nursing home. I am proud to be a nurse practitioner who gets to round at this exceptional facility. The staff demonstrate genuine care and go above and beyond to help their residents maintain their highest level of health and wellness. Their compassion and dedication are evident in every interaction, making Medicalodges of Eudora a standout nursing home. The cleanliness and commitment to hygiene is remarkable. The staff's efforts to create a warm and engaging environment contribute to the well-being and happiness of their residents. I wholeheartedly recommend Medicalodges Eudora as a nursing home that prioritizes exceptional care, caring staff, and the happiness of its residents.
Administration very unprofessional. In meetings administrative staff makes fun of residents who have complaints. Also laughs and makes fun of past and some current employees. Staffing is always short. Residents are not cared for as they should be. Some residents going for weeks without showers. Frequently sit in their wheelchairs without being toileted, changed or repositioned all day. Residents do not receive mouth care. High number of pressure wounds. High turnover rates. Mostly staffed with agency nurses and CNA’s. Administration staff frequently requesting staff to flood google with positive reviews. Facility smells of urine. For anyone looking for a facility for their loved ones, it would be best to pass this facility over. They have been a 1 star (which is the worst of the worst) for 4 years for a reason. Do research on government sites before considering this facility.
