I would give it a 0 star if I could. My grandma was here for rehab. She always said they treated her badly, didn’t come in to check on her. Wouldn’t give her daily medication if they didn’t have enough staff. She went to the hospital for an infection, they called on day 2 “is she coming back or are we going to take her stuff out of her room?” No empathy. When she came back from that hospital stay, they didn’t give her the proper care following the hospital recommendations. She was unresponsive and they waited a day to call an ambulance. She died at the hospital. Do not bring ANYONE here unless you want them treated badly.
I’ve been delighted with the care I received at The Estates at Excelsior. Despite the challenges such as staff shortages, which occurs all over the healthcare spectrum, the facility has seen impressive positive changes over the years. The dedicated staff provided compassionate and attentive care, making the most of the resources available. Their commitment and the facility’s ongoing improvements have created a welcoming and supportive environment. I am deeply grateful for the exceptional support I received from Johnny, the social worker, and Kendra, the business office manager. Their dedication and professionalism made a significant difference in managing my care needs. They both went above and beyond in connecting me with vital resources and navigating the complexities of county services. Their empathy and expertise were evident in every interaction, ensuring that I had access to the support and assistance I needed. I highly recommend The Estates at Excelsior for its outstanding care and resilience.
My grandmothers time at the Estates at Excelsior was incredibly positive. The team here is filled with caring individuals who go above and beyond to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. They make every effort to engage residents with a variety of activities that cater to different interests, ensuring everyone feels included and valued. The therapy staff are excellent along with the housekeepers. It's more than just a nursing home, it's a place where residents are truly cared for and supported in every way possible.
Written by Frank Grasso: When I left U of M Fairview Hospital, I arrived at Estates of Excelsior, not knowing what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised with the employee staff, who were kind, compassionate, very responsible and highly skilled. There were many staff members that I came in contact with, too many to mention. I spent most of my time with the trainers, a man named Tim, and the dining room cook, who was a delight. As for the medical staff, under Director Jackie, who has one of the best medical staffs, took care of all of my health needs. They were very hands on, and always attending to my health issues. Jackie should receive kudos for how she managed the medical staff. As for the administration, I had a problem with their TV programming. I was there for 22 days, and being a former basketball coach, I was unable to watch the Olympics, which was only offered on one TV near the nurses desk. I made many requests to have the Olympics shown in individual rooms. It showed me you had no concern for the comfort and enjoyment of your patients. For this alone, not caring about the patient’s needs and not listening, I rate the administration an F on this issue! I would like to end by saying, I have very fond memories of the staff. Thank you so much for taking such good care of me. Sincerely, Frank Grasso
My mom has now lived at this facility for 1.5 years. They have been amazing with her. Prior to coming her speech and adult capabilities were in gross decline. On site speech therapy helped regain use of her vocabulary. Further assisted by chatting with staff and other residents during activities and meals. She has also made friends here. This place is abuzz with staff and the head of nursing is very friendly and helpful. I really believe the staff care deploy about their roles. Small mistakes do happen. Something is lost. A physical therapy directive is not completely followed (who knows what other problem happened on site that day), etc.
