Well, it took changing beds 5 times before they could find one that worked correctly and still can’t see out windows due to fogged up and needing to be replaced. No splint available when resident broke a bone (had to make one out of a cardboard box. Seriously). Owners need to put money into building and hire people who want to be there. - Food has improved. Sadly, you get a good nurse or aid and then they leave because other locations pay more. Update -food still hit and miss AND has actually forgotten to deliver it to resident a couple of times so resident had to call and see where the food it. Yes it arrived cold and two hours late….not the first time. Communication is better with some individuals now but with being short staffed they don’t pick up phone or it’s hard to find someone at desk most of the time if you need help. If they made a decent wage maybe they could afford to hire people who used common sense and cared about others? There a few individuals that are amazing and do care it’s just sad that the others over shadow them at times. Food has gotten bad over last 6 months. It arrives raw, burnt or cold. Communication is terrible from one aid to the next and you’re lucky if they pass any information on and it doesnt matter how vital it is. They cancel doctors and specialists appoints (they can take weeks to get into) due to having only one part time driver. Very sad to see how no one follows through. Games need more than one person helping or they wait 45 minutes for one turn due to some residents are unable to participate and they insist on trying g to get them to participate while those wanting to play stand around waiting.
It is frustrating to watch your loved one and other patients sit in the dining room with no one there to serve them their food. When you look for an aide they will say it wasn't their duty. The duty belonged to the employee who decided not to come to work. This is not the first incident. Where is the shift supervisor?
I was a resident at Christian Health Care for 3 years and if I have to go to a Nursing Home again, it seems to be soon, and I want to go back there. It is home to me.
It's a beautiful drive just riding to Hertimage, MO. Take the family and visit the Ozarks on the way.
