My mother in law styed here for few weeks to get back on her feet. The interior and exterior are a little outdated and not maintained that well. The care seems good but they may be a bit understaffed. My mother in law needed extra wound care and it was not being addressed properly but when we made a complaint, they really sprang into action and took care of the issue well after that. Don't be afraid to complain if the service is not to your liking. They will do what they can right away to fix it if they can. Hospital bed in the room as adequate but very noisy when adjusting positions. There is an open quad area outside with a gazebo for smoking. The landscaping there had just been left to die back and fall over and there's an old plastic pond partially filed in with big rocks. But it's still a decent spot to spend some time outside when needed. The food was not good at all, apparently it's better at the hospital across the street, which I know was not good either. I would call Genesis a mixed bag. Good care as long as you stay on top of making sure it's up to par. Bare minimum as far as comforts go, but I see the care as the most important reason to be here anyway.

As I was reading, a line by Simon Sinek struck me deeply: “Letting someone into an organization is like adopting a child and welcoming them into your home. These people will, like everyone else who lives there, have to share in the responsibility of looking after the household and the others who live in it.” If you haven’t had the privilege of meeting the team at Southern Ocean Center, you are truly missing out on witnessing what great leadership and teamwork look like. From the Administrator to maintenance, every department functions together as one incredible family. And just like in a home, each member shares the responsibility of caring not only for the facility, but most importantly, for the patients who call it their home. We invite you to tour with us, ask questions, and experience firsthand how much every staff member values both Southern Ocean and the people we serve. For me, Southern Ocean Center will always be my first choice and I believe it should be yours too.

1st time here to see our Aunt. We were greeted with a friendly welcome at the front. The facilities were very inviting and clean. As we were walking to see our Aunt in her room the medical staff were also friendly. We are happy she came here to get the care she needs in her journey to getting well.

I wouldn't put my dog at this place, places understaffed in a complete mess. My father's been here and thank God this is his last week, room is a mess, bathroom is a mess, they switched his room and lost his dentures and phone cord. When I say something about it it's like I'm being ignored. 25 years ago this place was great when my grandfather was here, must be new ownership. This place is full of neglect, they won't even wash your clothes, I have to bring my father new clothes. They were complaining about him not listening, well doesn't take him to listen to clean his room. If you care about your loved one definitely do not bring them here. Edited 9-1-25 After I originally posted this review the director called me to go over the stated issues. They told me they were going to clean his room three times a day and bathroom, they found his teeth. And then asked if I could please take down the Google review. I told him I would take it down once I knew my father's health was okay because over the last week and a half I didn't like how he was acting. The next day I ended up seeing my father and not liking the way he was acting ( acting the same way he did when he went to the hospital when his lung was filled with fluid) I asked the nurse if they were going to take him to the ER for if I was going to, The nurse asked why and I told her I didn't like his breathing. She told me his oxygen level was 98%, I said I get that but also his oxygen level is okay when he left his primary doctor and his lung was filled with fluid. She had show me a piece of paper where she had marked down for his lung to get x-rayed and told me they didn't do it I asked why not and she told me because he had COVID. The director called me the next day and I asked him about the x-ray he knew something about it and said they should have still gave him an x-ray. So they ended up giving him an x-ray and put them on antibiotics. At first they didn't tell me what it was antibiotics was for but then eventually they got back to me and told me it was for upper respiratory infection. The next day I also witnessed a nurse telling an old woman that she didn't have time to give her a bath because they were too busy. Then I witnessed my dads urine filled sweatpants in the cabin that they keep the dirty clothes for 3 days. I was glad to get him out of there yesterday. And I took him straight to the ER and boy was I right, he had fluid in his lung they kept them there. Also the amount of paperwork that they made me go over for his discharge was ridiculous basically stating that he was pretty stable. This place is a joke, if you go to my Facebook profile and see the complaint I had about them on my personal page you'll see multiple friends chime in that have either been here or had people here. Talk about how horrible it is, well the director wanted me to change my Facebook post so here it is. The staff doesn't know what to look for and they're very understand, this place needs to go out of business.
