My mother Janet stayed here for 7 weeks in April and May. She was well cared for and they gave her a chance to get mobile again through daily rehab. She died last weekend of natural causes. Nothing could have prevented that but I take comfort in the memory of how well she was treated at Salem Trans. Thank you to Marsha, Deb, Jodi and all the care staff that treated, cared for and worked with my mother. It was an incredibly positive experience and during the remaining three months of her life after she left Salem Trans, she often commented on how much fun she had working out and how much she enjoyed her room and the people. Thank you all so much.
I made arrangements this summer with their patient care coordinator to stay at their facility. I was going to have surgery done and was going to pay cash (no insurance involved.) I followed all the steps that I was told to do, including having my dr fax over referral paperwork the morning of my surgery. Then my phone blew up during surgery from Salem Transitional Care. Post-surgery I was too out of it to check my messages. My husband then drove me to their facility. It was there that I was told that there was a problem with the referral paperwork because it wasn't from a hospital or surgical outpatient clinic. My husband explained that the dr had an outpatient surgical clinic and that's where I had the surgery. Their response was oops sorry our bad but she has to leave the premises due to liability reasons. This left me with no place to go other than home. When the facility got the referral paperwork, they should have called the dr office to clear it up instead of trying to contact me!!! My husband was handed the director's business card. I called and left a voicemail message after the fact, but received no call back. A subsequent email and text message was left unresponded to as well. Horrible place.
The only reason I have it two stars instead of one is because it is a newer facility, fairly clean, and the physical therapists are there most days. Otherwise, it is grossly understaffed, nearly impossible to get anyone to answer the phone or call you back, and my mom regularly waits hours to even get someone to fill her water.
After reading these reviews, I felt compelled to leave one myself. My 85 yr old mother-in-law fractured T9 & T10 in her back. We were going to try and rehabilitate her at home but I soon found out we were way out of our league. She could barely sit up when she first got to the facility and walking was nonexistent. That didn’t last long. The nurses and her therapists were right by her side from the very beginning. The rooms are fairly close to the nurses station so if she needed anything, I just went and asked the nursing staff and they were right there to help. There was some confusion in the beginning with her medication, but that was quickly rectified without incident. I don’t know if it is because we are so involved with her care or if the nurses are really that attentive there, but I am truly impressed. My mother-in-law has had nothing but praise for her care while she is there also. I will edit this review if things change, but ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for the first week for sure!!
I cannot say enough positive words about the staff and the care my mother has received. And not only her care but the support and communication with me has been phenomenal! Thank you to the team that starts with the front desk, social services, therapists, docs, nurses, and all the aides!
