I arrived just a few days ago. I’m very impressed with the cleanliness of the facility, as well as the caring staff. Sure it can get a bit loud at times, yet that goes with all nursing facilities. After all, the people that are here may be in pain, or dealing with other issues. We can always have our doors closed if it gets too loud. I have noise canceling headphones as well when needed. We need to find ways to deal with things instead of complain. Your loved ones should have regular visits to ensure they know you care. It certainly helps me with my mood.. Since I stopped feeling nauseous, the food has been pretty good. All the staff including RNs, LVNs and CNAS have been very caring and responsive. I will leave more reviews as my days continue here. God bless 🙏🏼❤️
I do not know what all the negative fuss is about with regard to reviews of this facility. I've only been here about 17 hours now and you can expect more reviews from me as I go think about the following along. I am a senior citizen who has experienced three Strokes who has been given a very good introduction for many reasons to the Earl one; think about the following: I came in about 5:30 p.m. and was brought to my room eventually. The first Contact was with a CNA or a certified nurse's assistant who came in and asked me how things were. I greeted her warmly and so did she and immediately we began having common fun together. Later because I had a bad cough I was given Robitussin by the Night Nurse the next morning, Kevin who is the head of dietary came in with an iPad and asked me lots of questions about what my food preferences are. That was very helpful indeed. Every time I had a question or press the button or calling somebody they came quickly and answering my questions or gave me what was needed. When I asked for one of my pain medications early in the morning, he immediately said he would give it to me at that time and would just tell the incoming nurse not to give me the 9:00 a.m. dosage but to wait until the next one at noon or 1:00 p.m. everybody has been friendly and what do I have to complain about? Up to this point, absolutely nothing! As an elderly male I am relieved to be in a place where I feel safe and I am receiving such good care, stay tuned for the next installment! Review number 2 a number of days and weeks have passed so there is much too much to share. The main thrust is what is most important, rehabilitation services. I am talking about speech, physical, occupational therapies. All of the professionals have been outstanding in treating me as an individual where I am at and helping to bring me to a better place. I have no severe criticisms that would justify anything other than maximum star review!
This facility needs to be shut down. It is filthy, not staffed appropriate, doors of rooms to patios do not lock, or for that matter, close. Anyone could come into a patients room. Very unsafe. Run down. Patients bathrooms are filthy! A recent relative was checked in and we had her discharged immediately. Her room was not clean, soiled linens, someones underware and clothes lying on the floor. Doors off hinges. The dirty bathroom had used plastic gloves on the floor, no soap, no towels to wash and your hands. Unacceptable. Do not place anyone here. When we spoke with the DON (Director of Nursing), she agreed and said "I don't blame her for wanting to leave, I wouldn't stay here either!" For those of you that work there, quit or petition that the place gets renovated immediately! It is unsanitary and unsafe. Disgusting. DO NOT PLACE ANYONE HERE.
Avoid Earlwood Convalescent Home at All Costs My father was just released today from Earlwood Convalescent Home in Torrance, CA, after what was supposed to be the beginning of a 100-day rehab stay covered by insurance. He had broken his hip and undergone surgery just days before, and was transferred here for recovery, physical therapy, and medical care. What he got instead was a nightmare. The facility is filthy and visibly falling apart—holes in the walls, broken bathrooms, and drapes hanging off the windows. It is loud and chaotic, with people screaming at all hours of the day and night. This is not a healing environment; it’s traumatizing. Worse than the condition of the building was the complete lack of care. My father received no medication during his entire stay. After his catheter was adjusted, staff left him unclothed and unattended. He only received one brief session of physical therapy—and only after he demanded it. The staff showed no empathy, no urgency, and no respect for his dignity. This place should not be allowed to operate as a recovery facility. It’s disgraceful and potentially dangerous for vulnerable patients. Please don’t make the mistake of trusting Earlwood with the care of your loved ones. By the way look at all of the five-star reviews. Every reviewer has between 1 and 4 reviews with very generic names and very generic descriptions. Those are signs of fake reviews. All of the one star reviews are left by people who actually leave reviews on Google, have names and write words themselves based on their experience, because they're real. This is a 100% a one star facility don't get it twisted.
I have had the most wonderful experience at the Earlwood Center, a stellar skilled nursing facility in Torrance, CA. Every encounter I experienced whether it was the nursing staff, gymnastics instructors, therapists, office personnel as well as those involved with the dining program have been fantastic and very rewarding and helpful towards my continued healing and wound care. Patients can take a break and enjoy a variety of different activities from movies to crafts, table games, discussions, painting and exercise.
