I know searching for an assisted living community for one or both of one’s parents is extremely difficult. My brother and I worked together to find a place for our dad when it became apparent that he could no longer live on his own. With his precarious health situation, we were both anxious about settling him in somewhere and hoping his needs would be well met. Our experience with Brookdale has been very good. My dad has now been an assisted living resident at Brookdale Bath for going on three years. The management has changed since we started with Brookdale and while I have no complaints about the previous director, I have been so pleased with the current director and her staff. There have been numerous changes made, some smaller, some bigger, but all have been good. First and foremost for us, is the care aspect of the facility. Brookdale Bath is a smaller facility. I have appreciated this smaller size – I feel dad receives better and more immediate attention this way. The nurses at Brookdale have taken such good care of him. Dad is a brittle diabetic and his blood sugar has at times been completely unpredictable, but the nursing staff, working with his doctor (who comes directly to Brookdale), manage everything very well. Blood sugar issues are now very, very few and far between, and when there is an issue, it is handled adeptly. I’m kept abreast of changes with direct calls from the nurses. In addition, Dad tells me he feels well taken care of. The facility is very clean and the maintenance staff is friendly. They banter with Dad too. Laundry service and room cleaning have all been consistently good. We have lost a couple items early on but we didn’t have his things marked. Meal service offers many different options and Dad is treated to his favorite, a serving of cake drenched in milk, nightly. My dad is a bit of a character but the entire staff go out of their way to charm him. He is also a bit of a hermit and is not one to partake in many of the frequent outings and activities Brookdale offers, but the activities director has given it her very best shot, even offering to take him to baseball games and cater other outings to his interests. I don’t have any luck getting him out and about either. He’s always been happier with a good book than a party! More social residents seem to really enjoy all of the specials and even Dad will venture in for some of the live music and other specials every so often. We’ll keep working on him!
My wife, who has Alzheimer's, and I selected Bath after my wife had a two week respite stay in October 2015. We were most impressed by the compassion shown by everyone we came in contact with. The front desk, the cleaning crew. the aides, nurses, Directors, everyone. We visited two other facilities, but decided Bath was our best option. We signed onto the waiting list in December 2015 and in May 2016 my wife Carol moved in as a permanent resident. We are even more comfortable as she adjusts to her new surroundings. We highly recommend this facility.
I can't believe you got to hit a star to be able to say something here don't even deserve one star. Workers are talking about patience like it's nothing. I thought there was a hippo law or does this facility go by that laws. I just need loved ones that's in your facility taking care of patient care first and foremost. I truly thought patience care mattered not here . Not having patience care first should be a priority number one. Don't know where they get their workers at.
My grandfather has SEVERE alzheimer’s & has been in the facility for a little over 7 months. My family & I understand how hard he is to deal with, but considering that this place is supposed to specialize in severe cases (what we were told upon choosing this location), he has not been getting the care he deserves. When we first arrived the Brookdale Bath, it seemed like a lovely place. Nice faces, friendly events, tons of open time to hangout with everyone. As time went on though, his case of alzheimer’s passed severe, so one could understand he is a hard one to handle. The staff started getting short, annoyed, and straight up rude with us. The amount of hospital visits he has had from falling, not being cared upon, getting stitches, catches sicknesses... it URGES me (& oh yes, MUCH more than one trip to the hospital!!!!!) After the first couple of times he had gotten a face full of blood & gashes, we were told that the staff could handle it & that there are some things we could do to help him not get hurt so much. The mere fact that he has scars & stitches from this place more than once, disgusts me. From what I was told, the staff takes care of their patients. I know they are not by his side 24/7, so they can’t account for every single thing he does. However, after the first couple injuries, you’d think they would pay special attention to him. I sure hope that they did. This wasn’t the trigger to why I decided to review on here. The thing that set me off about this place is this: Again, my grandfather is in the hospital. This is when Brookdale decided he is not welcome back. They can’t handle this severe case anymore, which I give them respects that they owned up to that realization (even though they told us from the beginning that they understand & can comply with him????). We did not know that he was not welcome back.. BECAUSE THEY WERE TOO COWARDLY TO EVEN CALL US!!!! This unprofessional act was it for me. I RARELY give bad reviews because I have worked many places & been through many situations & can understand the “other side” of the story. This??? This is just plain disgusting & cowardly. Please think twice before putting your loved ones in a certain home. And PLEASE make sure you know what you’re getting into. Ask all the questions you can & make sure they are honest. I’ve never been so disappointed in a staff before.
We liked that they have Assisted Living and Memory Care and only had 20 memory care apartments. Scott Mann is informative and sympathetic. Beautiful interior and front porch. Friendly group of ladies sitting out front when we visited. Beautiful courtyard and per-friendly.
