Brookdale Des Plaines

Brookdale Des Plaines is an excellent retirement home. My elderly father in Independent Living is extremely happy here. He raves about the quality of his meals and the service provided by the staff. He also appreciates how clean and well kept the building and grounds are and almost feels like he is living in a country club or resort. This is how I wanted him to spend his "golden years" because he deserves it.

My dad moved in 7 months ago in assisted living. I can not rave enough about the place. Firstly, it’s bright and cheery. Their outdoor areas are so nice with fresh flowers and ample seating. Secondly, the assisted living staff is AMAZING! They have constantly communicated with me about my dad. I feel very comfortable calling and addressing any concerns I have had about him. Thirdly, they have gone above and beyond helping me with long term health insurance and end of life care (which is daunting if you are unfamiliar). Everyone that I have come in contact with (Michelle, Jessa, Jerome, Louise and others!) have just been a joy. It gives me peace of mind knowing he’s being cared for in such a nice environment.

Overall, I would say this is a very good assisted living/independent living facility. The facility itself is beautiful, the room my father stayed in needed some updating but the issues were cosmetic. My father said the food was very good and he had several options to choose from. All of the staff are very attentive and nice. They have plenty of activities and the residents seem to get involved, always busy in the lobby and common areas during the day(except for the pool lol). I am very happy with the facility and the time that my father stayed there and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a place for their loved ones.

My mother, now 93, moved to Brookdale Des Plaines Independent Living in 2011. She told her five children this move was one of the best decisions of her life, and continuously raved about the management staff and employees, the food, and the planned activities. Due to failing health, she moved to Assisted Living (AL) in 2019 and started paying for help with some of her “Activities of Daily Living”, a substantial subset of assistance you normally receive as a resident of a Nursing Home. The AL department has its own manager and employees who are extremely caring and dedicated people. She is offered the option to have all her meals delivered to her room. They clean her room, and do her laundry individually (unlike many nursing homes that combine different residents laundry in the same load) once a week on the agreed-upon day. And they regularly check in on her even during the night to make sure she’s OK. She constantly tells us that she loves Brookdale and never wants to have to leave. Us kids have peace of mind that she’s safe and receiving excellent care.

My father has been at Brookdale Desplaines for over 5 years now and it has been wonderful! Myself and my family rest easy knowing that he is receiving such great care. He started out in Independent living and moved to Assisted living after a fall. We were so happy that they were still able to accommodate his needs after his fall. The staff on the assisted living floor are so caring and are always available when we have questions or concerns. The management staff is also very responsive and answered all our questions. They helped to make the transition to the assisted living floor seamless. We feel confident that he is comfortable and well cared for at Brookdale! Kathy H.
