I came from an agency to do 1-on-1 care with a resident, and I was so badly mistreated by the staff and had accusations made by me saying that I was stealing from the kitchen, stealing the resident’s food. I was then reported to my agency by the memory care Director , and accused of stuff I didn’t do without question causing me to have to resign from my job. I was also bullied and harassed throughout my shift here by the CNA’s and the memory care unit . As well as being assaulted by one of the residents and not having an incident report made until 24 hours later. I would not recommend working here at all !

Windcrest has an amazing community. From the residents to the staff, everyone I’ve met is friendly; the staff is kind and professional. It makes coming here lovely. The staff interactions with the residents is always so compassionate. It truly is uplifting to know that seniors get such quality care at Windcrest.

12k a month for 1 person assisted living and no one comes to assist the elderly on a bathroom break for hours!!! Family members have to drive hours to provide that good, timely, proper care. 400 per day! Don’t even bother referencing Craig Erickson. He doesn’t return family calls nor local news agency calls. Well, not anymore!! You’ve been reported and under investigation! I strongly believe Weiser and Polis will be shutting your doors down real soon.

A warning to anyone researching senior living (and Windcrest) with a loved one with middle/late stage and advancing dementia. My parents just moved here and from the time they were told an apartment was available to the time they moved in, my father’s dementia progression advanced rather quickly. Windcrest advertises “memory care” which is why they chose to move here. However this is not for middle to late stage dementia - their memory care is essentially assisted living, for cases of earlier stages of dementia, for people who can do most ADLs on their own. My father did not qualify for memory care and now is in their skilled nursing, which is extremely expensive and STILL not getting the care he needs (24/7 which in addition is out of pocket for us). This is not the place for your progressing dementia parent/loved one. Please research facilities for middle/late stage dementia and care levels thoroughly, EVEN if your loved one is early in the stages - they will eventually be severe and need more assistance than most places can provide legally in Colorado. Please do deeper research into memory care facilities in Colorado, especially Windcrest. The sales people are NOT upfront about this. One positive is that the in home health care company at Windcrest is very supportive and compassionate and their caregivers have been wonderful and professional. (However at times their availability is limited. They will try to find an outside company if needed.)

My review might seem a little biased because 40 years ago I founded Erickson Senior Living, the company that built and currently manages Wind Crest. We used to always say that in this industry the best test of quality is whether you’d someday move in to one of your communities. Well, Nancy and I moved from our home in Annapolis and became residents of Wind Crest in January 2022 and have enjoyed every minute since. One of the things we’re enjoying the most is meeting and getting to know other residents. We love that there are 8 restaurants to choose from all with unique menus. I enjoy walking over to the new 25 meter pool for lap swimming many mornings. Nancy is excited about the four pickle-ball courts that are being built this spring. I never would have envisioned outdoor rock concerts at one of our communities back in the early years, but our summer concert series has been a big hit. We both enjoy the huge variety of education classes and guest speakers that we can attend when we’re not too busy with other activities. We also still travel a lot, and like that we can lock the front door and not worry about a water leak or some other maintenance issue like we did when we owned a house. I told people for years that they shouldn’t wait too long to make a move like this and now I can say firsthand that I was giving good advice. Check it out, and you will see what I mean.
