Caregiver Job Description
Education/Qualifications: High School/GED, vocational or technical school preferred. CPR certification and First Aide a plus. Description of Responsibilities: Primary function is to assist the impaired, elderly and/or disabled client with household duties and personal care such as bathing, dressing, feeding and etc. Other duties include some transfer to chair, meal preparation and light housekeeping. Specific Responsibilities: 1. Assist with personal hygiene care for clients such as bathing, toileting, mouth and teeth care, and eating. 2. Assist with meal preparation and planning. 3. Assist with ambulation, getting out of bed to chair. 4. Assist with shopping duties for clients; pick up medications, etc. 5. Assist with light housekeeping duties (cleaning, laundry, etc.) 6. Provide emotional support for the client when needed. 7. Maintain accurate documentation in performance of assigned tasks. 8. Assist medication reminders. Aides do not give medication to client 9. Adherence to policies and procedures. 10. Reporting any changes in the client’s condition 11. Performing or assisting the client with activities of daily living. 12. Providing accurate and consistent information to clients and their families. 13. Collaboration with the agency team members. 14. Recognizing any changes with client’s medical and/or physical conditions. 15. Light housekeeping duties related to client care inclusive of but not limited to: a. Client meal preparation b. Cleaning of kitchen area and utensils used for client meal preparation c. Daily linen changes d. Laundry of articles used or by the client e. Maintaining clean, safe and obstacle free client area 16. Provision of emotional support in accordance with the psychosocial needs.
