Caregiver Job Description
Requirements: Previous experience as a personal care attendant in a home or facility setting Ability to communicate effectively in English Ability to successfully pass a fingerprint and background check Reliable means of transportation Car insurance as required by the State of California on any vehicle used for work related purposes Uniform requirement- Scrubs (we provide) and closed toe shoes. No false nails (acrylic /gel nails) We understand that there are emergencies but whenever possible 24 hour notice is required. A doctor’s notice will be required for return to work after a 3 day absence Responsibilities: Provide for the care and safety of clients: Communicate with the office to resolve any safety issues or environmental concerns Update charting notes with observations and daily progress of your client. Writing must be accurate, legible and timely Provide personal care services to clients, which may include: Medication organization, administration, and reminders Transportation of clients as needed Personal hygiene, dressing, and bathing Incontinence care (catheters, pull ups, etc.) Assistance with mobility such as re-positioning, range of motion, pivoting and walking Pet friendly and ready to walk, bath, feed, and pick up after pets Preparation of well-balanced and attractive meals according to the client’s desires and dietary requirements Assistance with feeding as needed Outings, shopping, errands and escorts to appointments Light housekeeping such as sweeping, mopping floors, vacuuming, taking out trash, dishes, making beds, changing of linens, laundry, etc. Provide emotional support to client, family and fellow care providers Observe physical, cognitive and emotional aspects of client’s status and reports changes immediately to Care From The Heart’s on-call nurse i.e. bruising, open wound, bed sores, chest pain, combativeness, crying spells, anxiety, etc.
