Caregiver Job Description
Our Adult Day Care Caregivers assists our Center Administrator and Activities Coordinator with implementation of daily client activity programs. The Caregiver acts as an active team member providing support to participants, which may include assistance with activities of daily living. The Caregiver will help to maintain an organized, sanitary program environment, and ensure that daily supplies for programs and activities are maintained and organized. 1. Assist Activities Coordinator and Center Administrator in daily care of clients, including meals, activities, hygiene, and other daily assessments 2. Assist and engage clients in participating in the social, recreational, and daily activities of the Center 3. Prepare for and setup supplies for planned daily activities 4. Assist in maintaining a safe and clean environment for clients 5. Assist with preparing meals and daily snacks for clients, as needed 6. Assist clients with bathroom and hygiene needs 7. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with other staff members Qualifications 1. Must have a heart to help the elderly; experience with Alzheimer's & other dementias highly preferred 2. Must have a sincere desire to work with persons of all ages who may be frail, moderately handicapped, slightly confused, or have incapacitating chronic conditions 3. Knowledge of the physical, social, and mental health needs of the elderly 4. Able to demonstrate activities in an enthusiastic and encouraging manner 5. Able to interact with the clients, caregivers, public, other agencies, and staff in a positive, courteous, and professional manner 6. Able to supervise, direct and motivate the clients
