POSITION SUMMARY
The Personal Care Assistant is responsible for skills encompassing resident care and related tasks under
the direction of an Administrator, Registered Nurse, and/or a Licensed Vocational Nurse. The Personal
Care Assistant works closely with residents to assist in daily needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Taking Vital Signs and reporting changes to appropriate persons
Assist residents with basic healthcare needs.
Assist with the administration of Self-Administered medications and complete documentation.
Documenting and reporting pertinent observations and report changes in health status
Identification and reporting of Special Incidents
Maintaining quality by following policies and procedures
Maintaining personal health and sanitation standards
Assisting with or instituting emergency measures for sudden adverse events
Responsible for light cleaning, cooking, and laundry
Engage residents in variation leisure activities
Driving vehicle to either doctor appointments and/or errands assigned by Administrator
Performing other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)
High school diploma or equivalent combination of education required
Completion of Family Is Why training program and certificate
Certified in CPR and First Aid
Driver’s License
Must pass criminal background investigation
Knowledge of healthcare regulations and preventative measures (HIPAA confidentiality, infection
spread, etc.)
Exemplary customer service experience including client relationships and job knowledge
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively; ability to critically think
Ability to be empathetic with residents; ability to maintain confidentiality
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee may be exposed to some hazards such as
bodily fluids that may contain disease. The employee is frequently required to sustain contact and
immersion of hands in water and sanitation solutions, and is frequently expected to wash their hands
