Personal Care Assistant (PCA) Job Description
ITTER/COMPANION JOB SUMMARY: A Sitter or Companion Must: Be over 18 years of age Be a North Carolina resident free from any charges from the law enforcement agency and/or and other disciplinary actions Have references from a similar job in the past year and preferably two to five years experience preferred in a sitter/companion type position Be able to read and write Obtain a passing score on any tests required for the proper care of the clients as deemed necessary by the Service Supervisor or authorized company staff. Have no accusations or listing on the NC State Nurse Aide Registry DRESS CODE: Sitters and companions must wear uniforms with shoes and socks, or any color/pattern scrubs No cut-offs, or mini-skirts. Clothing must be clean and pressed if needed. Hair must be clean and combed RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide a companion for client without providing personal or hands-on care Keep client in sight at all times, except for bathroom breaks. Breaks may be taken only when it s safe for the client Report any changes in client status to the office nurse immediately Make sure someone is in the home to take care of the client before leaving. (Failure to do so constitutes abandonment) Keep the client’s area clean and uncluttered Prepare light meals for the client when asked Use all work hours to manage, entertain, clean workspace, prepare meals, and provide companionship for the client ACKNOWLEDGMENT: I further understand that my employment is at-will, and thereby understand that my employment may be terminated at-will by the Agency and that such termination can be made with or without notice I understand and agree to the above job description and agree to these responsibilities as listed.
