Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Job Description
These are not all-inclusive, as other duties may be assigned. Bathes, shampoos, dresses and grooms assigned residents and assists with personal hygiene to enhance their comfort and well-being. Toilets residents. Takes readings as follows, but not limited to: temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, blood sugars and bladder screening. Monitors resident intake/output according to resident care plan and documents accordingly. Assists with the serving and feeding of residents. Assists in positioning, range of motion, transferring and ambulating residents according to resident care plan and documents accordingly. Utilizes proper lifting and body mechanics to prevent injury to residents, self and/or co-workers. Lifts/carries no more than 35# manually per organizational and OSHA regulations. Uses appropriate equipment when having to lift/carry more than 35#. Uses measures to promote skin integrity and body alignment Answers call lights and responds to resident inquiries promptly. Recognizes and reports signs/symptoms of a potential resident change in condition to the unit charge nurse. Responds appropriately in emergency situations. Assists in maintaining clean, neat and clutter free resident rooms and nursing units. Makes bed and sanitizes equipment. Completes all documentation required of the position accurately and timely. EDUCATION: Successful completion of a Certified Nurse Aide program and Wisconsin current certification. CNA must be in good standing with the Wisconsin Registry. EXPERIENCE: Prior experience in a skilled nursing facility or rehabilitation as a CNA is desirable. Experience in dementia care approaches and/or rehabilitation are desirable, but not required.
