Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Job Description
Job Title: Certified Nursing Assistant I or II Facility: Rainbow 66 Storehouse, Inc. Education: 18 years old or older Responsibilities: The primary function of the CNA is to assist clients with personal care services and activities of daily living (ADL’s) under the supervision of a registered nurse. Assistance with ADL’s include assisting clients with hygiene, bathing, dressing, mobility, toileting, eating, grooming, meal preparation and other duties as defined in each client’s plan of care that are instrumental to completing personal care. Complete training, at a minimum, of beneficiary rights, confidentiality and privacy practices along with monthly in services. Agency will ensure that each Certified Nursing Assistant meets state law requirements and performs appropriate services and has no findings against the aide on the North Carolina registry relating to patient abuse or neglect or misappropriation of patient property. CNA’s are required to: • Able to administer care for limited and extensive clients’ • Attend at least 12 hours of in-service annually and at least one in-service annually on airborne and blood borne pathogen training, infection control, competency training written and/or orally to RN. • Report any change in client condition to the RN Service Supervisor and Home Care Agency Director • Complete housekeeping and home management tasks that are essential. Although secondary to personal care tasks necessary for maintaining the client’s health • Maintains confidentiality regarding client care and condition • Perform all skills and procedures competently and within the regulations and licensing laws of the state and agency policies • Report accidents/incidents • Recognize and report signs of abuse and neglect • Document information & submit in a timely manner • Practice universal precautions at all times • Follow all instructions given by the supervisor/director • Other duties may be required Qualifications: The position requires empathy and communication skills in addition to the ability to perform limited and extensive personal and physical care services. Qualified individual must be able to read, follow written and verbal instructions and document care given. A TB skin test or chest x-ray is required prior to employment and annually. The CNA must have at least one year experience preferred in direct patient care in a homecare and/or institutional setting such as a hospital or nursing facility.
