Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with ADLs: bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, incontinence care, and oral hygiene
Provide mobility support: transfers, ambulation, positioning, and fall prevention (gait belts, lifts)
Measure and record vital signs, height/weight, intake/output; report changes promptly
Assist with feeding and hydration; follow dietary orders, aspiration/diabetes precautions
Perform bed making, basic skin care and pressure injury prevention; maintain clean, safe environment
Support range-of-motion and restorative programs as directed
Use EMR to document care accurately and timely; protect PHI/HIPAA
Observe and report pain, behavior, and condition changes to the nurse
Provide compassionate companionship, de-escalation, and redirection as needed
Follow infection prevention, standard/contact precautions, and PPE guidelines
Participate in shift handoff, huddles, and ongoing training/competency checks
Requirements:
Current CNA certification in [State] and listed in good standing on the state nurse aide registry
BLS/CPR (AHA or Red Cross) – current or within 30 days of hire
High school diploma/GED
Ability to read, write, and document in English; basic computer/EMR skills
Background check, TB screening, and health clearance per state/facility policy
Physical demands: lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs; stand/walk for most of shift; frequent bending/stooping; safely use mechanical lifts
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)
6+ months CNA experience (hospital, SNF, assisted living, home health)
Dementia/Memory Care, Hospice, or Rehab experience
CPI/NCI or de-escalation training; Spanish or other second language
